Blue Lagoon – geothermal SPA on Iceland

Named one of the 25 wonders of the world by National Geographic and the best SPA in Scandinavia. Should be on the list of anyone who has plans to visit Iceland. What actually is the Blue Lagoon?

Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa situated in the southwestern Iceland, between Keflavik Airport and Reykjavík. The complex was created by humans but uses naturally heated sea water inside Earth (the temperature is about 38 ° C). Rich in minerals and algae, such as silica and sulfur nourish and help in the treatment of various skin disorders. One of the many attractions is the bar with clay and silica mud mask which can be used without leaving the water. Lagoon takes its name from milky – blue water, completely exchanged every 40 hours.

Good to know

An optimal time reserved to use most of attractions is about 2-3 hours. There is no problem with photographing, camera can be stored in a lockable cupboard. Before entering the water, apply conditioner to the hair, because sea water can cause dryness and difficulties to comb.
